Sunday, May 30, 2004      Short and Sharp

I'm going to be [more?] boring and give a short run down of stuff, because I need sleep.

Non-Trip stuff
Watched The Last Samurai -- I liked it even thought I hate Tom Cruise [well...I am Australian].
Watched The Return of the King -- class even the third time.
Saw The Day After Tomorrow -- I like big-budget, disaster movies and this is another cool one. Ended a little abruptly [they don't tend to drag on either :P], but awesome visuals and not-so US saves world either. Go see it, it ain't that bad.

Trip Stuff
Sign on the back of my car saying For Sale -- please buy me it should be. Carsales has a number of Accents there and mine is better than most of them, so fingers are crossed.
Actually did some cleaning/sorting and threw out a lot of crap. First step to the fun that is packing.

...and when in doubt drink by yourself and people watch....it can be an interesting venture.

Thursday, May 27, 2004      Monster Job Search and Accomodation

Hooked up with Monster UK and applied for 6 jobs. Is it still too early for this? 6 weeks to the day I'll be in Tokyo [cooolll!] and the following day walking thru Heathrow, so should I think that anyone will take interest in this Aussie guy who they haven't met
and can't meet for half a dozen weeks?

Lets hope so -- especially the fabulous technology researcher job which is a little out of my league, pays a truckload but suits me to a tea - and they mentioned iPOD in the ad so I was hooked :)

My confidence in accommodation has also increased - looked on The Gum Tree and read thru the places up for rent, and was reasonably impressed with the share places for doubles (going back to a single would be a struggle I'd think).

Tuesday, May 25, 2004      The Working VISA arrives,Troy and Hook Ups via SMS

I got my Working VISA today. I now can legally work in the UK by flashing my huge stamp in my passport. I have everything that is required to get me there. Excitement level has increased.

Saw Troy last night and was a little unsatisfied with it all - as I have been with a number of movies of late - don't get me started on Van Helsing..... The older actors were gold and the "younger" [isn't Brad 40 now!?] seemed a little uncomfortable. Peter O'Toole was good and Brian Cox [who was in X-Men II] was great as Agamemnon, but Brad tried his quirky style in parts [which is a style I really enjoy in Se7en, 12 Monkeys and Fight Club] which just didn't fit, I'm still unsure whether I think that Bana can act or not and Orlando was nothing until he became Legolas at the end. He's stuck with that bow and arrow isn't he? The ladies were average too -- Rose Byrne just didn't cut it for me, and Helen seemed just very weak. But all in all it was a good watch even if I am harsh about it above, and the first movie I've seen solo for a long time -- so it was good practice for the UK if I can't find anyone to come along :)

Don't organise to hook up with someone via SMS. Go back to old way and call them! Or write a bloody letter. I'm a sucker for using this technology because its too easy. But you wait there for a response and don't get one in your comfort period, fret they didn't get it and think wierd and wacky thoughts why they aren't responding. I wonder how many people are breaking up over SMS nowadays....."sorry babe but you just don't do it for me anymore. its over." Message Sent.

Found this site linked off Flash Kit and can't explain how cool it is for a personal site and wonder how his brain works.

Thursday, May 20, 2004      Moving Out and Air Guitars

Why I'm looking foward to moving out of my unit [which I live in on my own] as from an email I wrote today.

I'm sort of looking foward to sharing a house with multiple personalities so they can mix with mine.

As a big eBAY fan for rare singles, I liked this one from a newsletter I get --- Air Guitar Sells [on eBAY] For $5.50. Read it here.

Tuesday, May 18, 2004      New Outfit

Direct from the USA, comes my Allan Houston #20 Knicks Reebok Men's NBA Authentic Road Jersey <breathe>. Big thanks to Diana [mwa] for my new singlet to wear when I cruise the gyms for a game of basketball in London. Check it out here.

Does anyone know if they play basketball in London?

Monday, May 17, 2004      It Begins

On July 8th I am leaving my comfort zone in Adelaide and moving to London for a working holiday.

Its only 7 weeks or so to go, and I feel things are going OK regarding organising everything. I'm one to worry about everything to be perfect and organised, so I'm a little overwhelmed with all of this. I've written my list of things to do, and notice that most of them will have to come in a rush in the last 3-4 weeks. Nothing like delaying the inevitable.

I'm currently sitting at my dining table, ripping my music collection to my new 40 Gig iPOD.
iPOD. Best. Toy. Ever.

Today is also a public holiday. I hate public holidays when you don't utilise them. Check today off as one of those.
