Couldn't contain myself...
Hiya. I'm still around. Just wanted a super post to bring me back, or something. Barcelona, didn't post. Meeting Gilchrist and Ponting, didn't post. Seeing U2 and being on the fence at the front, didn't post. Batman Begins, Star Wars Episode 3, didn't post. Kate got engaged, didn't post. Catching up with Mum and Dad, didn't post [shocker I know].
Audioslave. A band I was instantly hooked into because of their history. Two of my favourite bands coming together -- the band from Rage Against The Machine and the frontman from Soundgarden. I still remember hearing the first song of theirs on the radio, I was in awe.
We've just returned from the Brixton and seen The Best Concert Ever. Note I saw U2 with 70,000 other people and was close enough to smell Bono's aftershave on Sunday. Audioslave ran through their great songs from both albums, but added in the following:
Outshine (Soundgarden)
Bulls on Parade [no vocals] (RATM)
Sleep Now in the Fire (RATM)
Spoonman (Soundgarden)
Fell on Blacks Days [acoustic] (Soundgarden)
and....
Killing in the Name (RATM)
Now I peed my pants at every moment one of these started. Having grown up with these tracks, I know the starting bars and just went mental. I've been lucky enough to have seen both bands live, and being able to hear these tracks again live, OMG!
Absolutely fucking fantastic. I can't think of a better concert and I've seen some rippers in the last 11 months. Nothing will beat this.
